A research project exploring how AI becomes understandable, memorable, and human through character design.

      <turbo:content>

WHY WEBUELA?

The Insight

Every culture has the same character. The grandmother.

She teaches. She explains. She tells stories. She never makes you feel stupid.

Technology should feel the same. That became the foundation of Webuela — a name built from Web + Abuela (grandmother is spanish): a character who explains the internet the way a grandmother would.

The Idea

Instead of another AI mascot, I built a visual language.

Webuela doesn't sell AI. She translates it. Complex topics — money, football, marketing, cooking, business, coding — all become tiny everyday moments through one recognizable character.

Design Principles

Universal. No country, no politics, no age. A grandmother everyone instantly understands.

Playful. Soft shapes, rounded geometry, bright optimistic color. Nothing intimidating.

Memorable. People forget interfaces. People remember characters.

AI-native. Every scene is designed for generative AI — the character stays consistent across unlimited situations.

Visual Language

One system throughout: glossy plastic materials, a pastel palette, oversized rounded shapes, toy-like proportions, cinematic lighting, and expressive faces.

The result lands somewhere between Pixar, LEGO, and collectible designer toys — communicating optimism, simplicity, trust, and warmth before you read a single word.

Brand Voice

Webuela never sounds like a corporation. She speaks like someone's favorite grandmother: curious, patient, playful, wise.

Cook your website like grandma makes empanadas!
¡Cocina tu web como abuela hace empanadas!

Spice up your brand—let’s cook it up with Webuela!
¡Dale sazón a tu marca: ¡prepárala con Webuela!

Slow-cook your brand to perfection with us.
Forja tu marca a fuego lento con nosotros.

Weave your online presence with artisan care!
¡Teje tu presencia online con cariño artesanal!

Grow your digital roots like grandma’s garden.
Cultiva tu crecimiento digital como el huerto de la abuela.

Bake your digital recipe—let’s get started today!
Hornea tu receta digital: ¡arranquemos hoy!

Behind the Scenes

Started in July 2025, Webuela is also an exploration of modern creative workflows — built with OpenAI's generative models (Sora 2.0) and a disciplined system of prompt engineering (ChatGpt), visual identity, and storytelling.

The core technical challenge was character consistency: keeping one recognizable hero stable across hundreds of unrelated scenes. Generative models drift by default — the same prompt rarely returns the same face twice. So Webuela relies on a fixed set of anchor descriptors (the blue cloud-shaped bun, oversized turquoise glasses, pink skin, turquoise apron) locked into every prompt, combined with consistent framing, lighting, and material language. Prompts are engineered as a repeatable template rather than written from scratch each time — the variable is the scene, never the character.

Rather than using AI to replace design, Webuela uses it as a creative medium: the model generates, but the system, the constraints, and the creative direction are authored. That distinction is the project — an original visual universe built with AI, not by it.

This is how it worked without strong prompting from human part.

And the Oscar Goes To...

Once the system was proven — a consistent synthetic identity that could hold across any scene — I set Webuela aside and moved on to other projects. The point was never to maintain a mascot indefinitely, but to demonstrate that a coherent character and a repeatable generative system could be built from the ground up. With that established, Webuela stands as a finished experiment, and the approach carries forward into whatever comes next (MIGOHAPPYDOG, DANCING LETTERS or TEXT PUZZLES).
</turbo:content>

Free interactive poetry animator for classrooms, creators, and curious readers. Web application hosted on GitHub Pages.

      <turbo:content>

DANCING LETTERS

Overview

Dancing Letters is a small web tool that turns any poem/text into a moving, breathing piece of visual art. Languages: English, Spanish, Russian.
A user pastes a text, chooses one of fourteen animation scenes — letters can flip, swing, ripple in waves, spiral, pulse like a drum — fine-tunes speed, intensity, and colors, and presses Animate. The result can be watched full-screen, presented to an audience, recorded as a video, or exported frame by frame for further editing.

The project began as an artistic experiment: what happens to a familiar poem when its letters refuse to sit still? It grew into a multilingual, mobile-friendly tool that serves teachers, students, performers, and anyone who enjoys watching language come alive — including readers with dyslexia, for whom the tool offers a rare kind of recognition: here, for once, everyone sees the letters dance.

Try: https://webuela.github.io/dancing_letters/

What it Does

The tool is organized around a single stage and a settings panel. The user controls the poem text, a secret word to highlight, the animation scene (fourteen options ranging from gentle — breathe, wave, swing — to wild — chaos, vortex, explosion), four toggleable letter effects (blink, drift, tremor, letter swap), and the full look of the stage: background image or color, darkening overlay, text color and size.

Work is never lost: compositions can be saved as named projects in the browser, exported to a file, and imported on another machine. For sharing, there are three paths — presentation mode for live showing, one-click video recording of a full animation loop, and a ZIP export of every frame as a PNG image for professional editing.

Everything runs in the browser. There is no account, no server, no tracking, and no installation; the entire application is one HTML file per language.

The secret word feature turns reading into a game — the teacher hides a word inside the poem and students hunt for the highlighted letters. The sequential highlight mode supports choral reading and memorization, guiding the eye through the text at an adjustable pace.

To generate secret word use another application I created: https://webuela.github.io/secretword/.

Technical summary

Vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; per-letter animation driven by CSS transforms and JavaScript timing; video capture via the browser MediaRecorder API; frame export rendered to canvas and packaged as a ZIP client-side; project storage in localStorage with file-based export/import. Total footprint: about 55 KB per language edition. External dependencies: web fonts and an icon set from public CDNs — nothing else.

Outcomes and directions

The project demonstrates that a genuinely useful classroom and creative tool does not require an app store, a backend, or a subscription — a single well-crafted file and a free static host are enough. Natural next steps include additional animation scenes contributed by users, more language editions (the three-edition structure makes adding a fourth mechanical), sharable links that encode a composition, and optional reduced-motion presets for viewers who prefer calmer movement.

Dancing Letters is open for feedback, translations, and forks. If the dancing letters made you smile — or made you think — the project has done its job.
</turbo:content>

Find real words hidden inside the letters of any text — a poem, a song, a quote, a letter, or a plain paragraph. Collect one word from each text and turn your collection into a proverb.

      <turbo:content>

SECRET WORD

A word-discovery game born from a conversation, shipped as a single HTML file.

Overview

Secretword is a browser game that finds real words hidden inside the letters of any text. The player pastes a poem, a song, a quote or a plain paragraph; the app strips away spaces, punctuation and case, lays the remaining letters out as tiles, and shows every dictionary word that can be assembled from them. Words are collected one per text, and once the collection holds two or more words in the same language, the app composes them into a proverb — "Where there is LOVE, there is DREAM."

The entire product is one self-contained HTML file: no framework, no build step, no backend, no external dependencies beyond an optional web font. It runs from GitHub Page.

Try: https://webuela.github.io/secretword/

It supports seven word languages (English, Russian and Spanish first, plus French, German, Italian, Portuguese) with automatic Cyrillic ⇄ Latin transliteration, so a Russian poem can legitimately yield a Spanish word. Translations appear only when the word language differs from the interface language — useful for language learners, invisible to native speakers.

From game to marketing tool

The mechanic works in both directions. The app finds hidden words — which means a copywriter can use it to deliberately plant one. Write a caption, a product description or a campaign line, run it through Hidden Words, and verify that your secret word is discoverable in its letters (and that no unwanted words are hiding there too). The audience gets a puzzle; the brand gets engagement and time-on-content.

I used exactly this workflow for the Dancing Letters project: a secret word was hidden inside the campaign text, and Hidden Words served as both the authoring tool (checking the word was really there) and the reveal mechanic for the audience. The letter-tile interface — hover a word and the tiles it uses light up — turned the reveal into a small visual moment rather than a plain answer.

Scenarios

Other uses of the same pattern: teaser posts where:

followers hunt for the brand name;

newsletter easter eggs;

classroom vocabulary games;

and... woooow (!)

wedding or event invitations with a hidden word for guests.

Please contact me if you need support with the tool and let me know about your cases.
</turbo:content>

What started as curiosity about handcrafted candles gradually evolved into a complete creative project — from developing unique candle compositions and experimenting with waxes, pigments, fragrances, and containers to building a visual identity around the brand.

Although it eventually became a personal hobby rather than a commercial business, the project gave me valuable hands-on experience in product development, branding, photography (took a workshop with famous @budarinphoto), and creating emotionally engaging physical products.

What started as a small kitchen experiment quickly outgrew the dining table. More importantly, it became a practical exercise in taking an idea from concept to launch, combining product design, branding, supplier research, e-commerce, logistics, and customer validation.
</turbo:content>
